Mental Health Counsellor

The role being offered is an exciting opportunity for Mental Health Counsellors/Practitioners to join Choices4Growth, C4G – CIC, a growing company formed in 2017. They provide mental health support for the whole of the Berwick and surrounding areas.

This post is being funded by the Big Lottery to allow the continuation of the current project until 2022. The salary of £22,000 is pro rata down to 1 day per week. The days currently required would be either a Thursday or Friday unless any future changes develop within the project.

Choices4Growth is the first organisation to offer counselling, signposting and support to the whole of the community, covering all ages from 3 years – 18 years old, young persons and adults.

We cover a range of issues in all age groups, including depression, anxiety, loss/bereavement, suicide ideation, relationships and domestic violence, currently working in two local schools and North Northumberland Voluntary Forum.

The successful candidate/s will be providing one to one therapeutic sessions either in a school setting or in the NNVF, therefore experience of working with children in a school environment is a necessity.


You will:

  • Have a recognised counselling or therapy qualification, preferably with post-qualifying experience
  • Be a member of BACP
  • Work ethically
  • Have an in-date DBS certificate
  • Work with pastoral teams, safeguarding teams, parents, carers or guardians
  • Build relationships with colleagues in designated schools
  • Receive supervision from the Project Director
  • Work under the policies and procedures of C4G and that of the schools and NNVF
  • Demonstrate understanding of working with children and young people who require or would benefit from emotional and therapeutic support
  • Demonstrate understanding of a range of therapeutic models

Fundraising Administrator

Choices4Growth currently work within two local schools supporting the mental wellbeing of the whole school community. Children aged 3 years – 18 years, young persons and adults. Those clients not part of the school community wishing to access our services can be seen at the office/counselling room in the North Northumberland Voluntary Forum.

Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Fundraising Administrator to join and give admin support to the community based mental health organisation Choices4Growth, C4G -CIC and help source additional funding. You will be office based within the North Northumberland Voluntary Forum, Berwick.

This post is being funded by the Big Lottery to allow the continuation of the current project until April 2022 The hours of work will be 16 per week with a pro rata salary of £18200.

It is our vision that the person taking on this role will be able to work alone with limited supervision, liaise with other agencies/organisations and be a good communicator. They will have previous fundraising/office experience and good IT skills. Any experience in the support/mental health sector would be an advantage but not a requirement.

Support worker background may be advantageous given the nature of the role.

Actual working days will be Tuesday-Friday afternoons but we are happy to look at this with the right candidate.

Holiday entitlement will be the legal requirement and there may be training opportunities on offer.
